Paul D. Hains
Junior Vice Commander - Army
Paul Hains was commissioned a Second Lieutenant
in 1987 and, during a 25-year Army career, witnessed first hand the unification
of Germany, the Liberation of Kuwait, Peace in Kosovo, and the Liberation of
Iraq.
Hains first assignment was as a Cavalry Platoon Leader in the 2nd Cavalry
Regiment patrolling the East-West German Border. During the Gulf War in
1991 he led a Scout Platoon at the Battle of 73 Easting. Hains went on to
serve in several leadership roles to include Company Commander, Brigade S-2,
Intelligence Collection Officer for Multi-National Force Kosovo, Battalion
Executive Officer, Chief of Operations of the Texas Joint Counterdrug Task
Force, member of five-person Red Team advising the III Corps Commander and
staff of Multi-National Force Iraq, and Chief of Space and Special Technical
Operations for Southern Iraq.
Hains military decorations include the Silver Star for Valor, Bronze Star,
Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf
Cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak
Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Action
Badge, Space Operations Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
LTC Paul Hains retired from the Army in March of 2012 and now lives in Cypress,
TX. He enjoys spending time with family, mentoring veterans transitioning
to civilian life, volunteering at his church, and being a part of VFW Post
2427.
