Tomball City Council voted May 18 to award a contract for $13,984,481.05 to Durwood Greene Construction Co., to build out the next segment of Medical Complex Drive.
This part of the project will extend Medical Complex Drive from the intersection of South Persimmon Street and Agg Road and connect to Hufsmith-Kohrville Road.
This project is part of a larger project to connect Medical Complex Drive to FM 2920, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.
The project includes a full boulevard build-out of Medical Complex Drive, including four lanes of concrete road, full drainage and utilities, and a rehabilitation of the asphalt section of Agg Road, said Public Works Director Beth Jones.
The project is scheduled to be completed by September 2021 and the construction will begin after pre-construction meetings between city officials and contractors are held the week of June 1, Jones said.
City Manager Rob Hauck said he is hopeful to come in under budget on the project.
"If so, then we can reprogram that [extra funding] for other street and drainage projects,” he said. "Possibly even moving north of Lizzie Lane.”
